“My name is Mangari Devi. My daughter Sandhya is just 3 years old, but she has already seen more pain than many see in a lifetime.

We do not have a home. We live on the roadside, sleeping wherever we find a little space to rest. My husband, Rajesh, works as a wage labourer whenever work is available. On days when there is no work, we survive by begging and eating whatever food kind strangers give us. This is the only way we stay alive.

One day, my little Sandhya suffered a severe burn on her left hand and arm. Watching her scream in pain was unbearable. We rushed her to NAMCO Hospital, Nashik, where doctors told us she urgently needs collagen dressing and surgical treatment under anaesthesia to save her hand and prevent permanent damage.

She is too young to understand why her arm hurts so much. She keeps crying and asking me when the pain will stop. As a mother, it breaks my heart that I cannot comfort her or protect her from this suffering.

The treatment costs ₹1,00,000, an amount we cannot even imagine arranging. We struggle every day just to eat. But without this treatment, my daughter may lose the proper use of her hand for life.”

With folded hands and a heart full of hope,
Mangari Devi, mother of a 3-year-old Sandhya
