"The doctors said both babies are critical. I did not know where to look first —

at my wife recovering from surgery, or at my babies fighting in the NICU."

— Sachin, the father

  • Location

    Kolhapur, Maharashtra

  • Medical Condition

The following is the confirmed medical status as documented by Sai Sparsh Children's Hospital, Kolhapur, dated 30/07/2026:

Patient : Baby of Arati Sachin Patil — Twin II (Male)

Age at Last Update : 10 Days

Birth Weight : 1.2 kg (Low Birth Weight — LBW)

Gestational Age at Birth : 33 weeks (Moderate Preterm)

    Date of Admission : 26/07/2026

Hospital : Sai Sparsh Children's Hospital, Kolhapur

Expected NICU Duration : 25–30 days

    Confirmed Diagnoses

    • Moderate Prematurity (33 weeks) with Low Birth Weight (1.2 kg) — born seven weeks too early, with organs that were not yet ready to function independently

    • Severe Respiratory Distress Syndrome (RDS) — lungs unable to expand and sustain breathing on their own; currently on mechanical ventilator support with surfactant therapy

    • Septic Shock — a critically severe blood infection that has caused the body's circulatory system to begin failing; confirmed by PCT (Procalcitonin) of 65.94 ng/mL — a level that indicates severe systemic bacterial sepsis (normal in neonates: below 21 ng/mL for this age)

    • Neonatal Jaundice (Hyperbilirubinemia) — elevated bilirubin of 7.19 mg/dL (normal: below 1.2 mg/dL) caused by the breakdown of red blood cells; requires monitoring and management to prevent neurological damage

    • Anaemia — haemoglobin of 11.10 gm% with macrocytosis and neutrophilia, indicating the blood is under significant stress from infection

    Current Treatment Requirements

    • Mechanical ventilation — the baby cannot breathe independently; a ventilator is breathing for him around the clock

    • Surfactant therapy — medication administered directly into the lungs to treat severe RDS and help the air sacs stay open

    • Multiple inotropes — medications that support heart function and maintain blood pressure in a body experiencing septic shock

    • IV antibiotics — intensive antibiotic treatment for the severe bacterial infection driving the septic shock

    • Phototherapy — light therapy to reduce the dangerously elevated bilirubin levels causing jaundice

    • Continuous monitoring of oxygen, heart rate, blood pressure, bilirubin, and infection markers — every hour, around the clock

      Estimated Cost of Treatment NICU Treatment (25–30 days) : ₹2,00,000 – ₹3,00,000

      Medicines : ₹1,00,000 – ₹1,20,000

      Total Estimated Cost : ₹3,00,000 – ₹4,20,000

      Why This Is Critical

A PCT of 65.94 ng/mL is not just elevated — it is alarmingly high. In neonates, a PCT above 21 ng/mL indicates severe systemic sepsis or septic shock. At 65.94, this baby's body is in a full-scale medical emergency driven by a blood infection that is attacking multiple organ systems simultaneously.

He is 10 days old. He weighs 1.2 kg. He is fighting septic shock in the NICU. His father earns ₹3,333 a month.

Your support — whatever you are able to give — goes directly toward the ventilator keeping this baby breathing, the medicines fighting the infection in his blood, and the round-the-clock care that is the only thing standing between this 1.2 kg baby and the worst.

Please help Sachin save his son.
