"She did not cry when she was born. They told me later that she was not breathing at all.

I did not know if she was alive. I still do not know how to feel about that moment."

— Sarita, the mother

  • Location

    Nashik, Maharashtra

  • Medical Condition

The following is the confirmed medical status as documented by Suyog Hospital, Nashik, dated 09/10/2026:

Patient : Baby of Sarita Ganesh Mahajan — Twin 1st (Female)

Age at Last Update : 2 Days

Birth Weight : 1 kg (Very Low Birth Weight — VLBW)

    Date of Birth & Admission : 07/10/2026

Hospital : Suyog Hospital, Panchvati, Nashik

Condition at Birth : No spontaneous activity, no spontaneous breathing — required immediate intubation

    Confirmed Diagnoses & Condition

    • Extreme Prematurity with Very Low Birth Weight (VLBW — 1 kg) — born before organs were developed enough to sustain life independently

    • Absent spontaneous breathing at birth — the baby made no attempt to breathe after delivery; this required immediate endotracheal intubation (a tube placed directly into the airway) and connection to a mechanical ventilator

    • Absent spontaneous activity at birth — no movement detected in the moments following delivery, indicating the severity of the baby's critical condition

    • Respiratory failure requiring prolonged mechanical ventilation — the ventilator is currently doing all the breathing work; the baby cannot be removed from support until her lungs mature enough to function independently

    Current Treatment Requirements

    • Mechanical ventilator support — continuous, around the clock; the baby cannot breathe without it

    • Endotracheal intubation management — the tube in her airway must be carefully maintained to prevent displacement or infection

    • Continuous NICU monitoring — oxygen levels, heart rate, blood pressure, temperature, and all vital signs tracked every hour

    • Essential medicines and supportive treatment — antibiotics, surfactant therapy, and other medications as clinically indicated

    • Parenteral nutrition — nutrients delivered intravenously as the gut is too immature for any oral or tube feeding

    • Laboratory investigations — regular blood tests, cultures, and imaging to monitor her condition and catch any deterioration early

    • Regular assessment by the neonatal and paediatric team — multiple medical reviews per day

    Estimated Cost of Treatment

NICU Care & Ventilator Support :      Included

Medicines & Supportive Treatment : Included

    Laboratory Investigations :                 Included

Total Estimated Cost :                        ₹3,10,000/- (Three Lakh Ten Thousand Only)

    Why This Is Critical

A baby born at 1 kilogram with no spontaneous breathing is not just premature — she is in a state of critical neonatal emergency. The absence of breathing at birth means her respiratory system could not initiate function on its own, and the ventilator is not a temporary bridge — it is currently her only means of staying alive.

Every hour of ventilator care requires expert monitoring, calibrated settings, and immediate response to any change in her condition. Any interruption — any gap in care — carries consequences that cannot be undone. The medical team at Suyog Hospital is doing everything that medicine can do. But medicine costs money, and this family does not have it.

Your support — whatever you can give — goes directly toward the ventilator keeping her alive, the medicines protecting her fragile body, and the intensive monitoring that gives this 1-kilogram baby girl the best possible chance of one day breathing on her own.

She is 2 days old. She weighs 1 kg. A machine is breathing for her. She has never cried. Help her get the chance.

Please help Sarita and Ganesh bring their daughter home.

    Please donate. Every rupee matters.
