Pavithran is a 6-year-old boy suffering from Nephrotic Syndrome and is now admitted with Acute Kidney Injury. He is currently on hemodialysis. He requires continuation of hemodialysis followed by a Kidney Biopsy and initiation of immunosuppressant. According to his present condition he is expected to be hospitalised for another two weeks approximately and requires follow-up and investigations post-discharge as well.
The family has been thoroughly evaluated and we have found that this family belongs to low socio-economic status. His bill amount to date is INR. 1,15,000 (One Lakh Fifteen Thousand Only). The Approximate cost of the treatment will be INR. 200,000 (Two Lakhs Only)
Mr. Sivaji and Mrs. Kavitha are the parents of Pavithran. Mr. Sivaji is a daily wage worker who earns enough to support his family and is in no position to get the treatment done. Mrs. Kavitha is a housemaker and she is taking care of her son. Treatment of Hemodialysis
Hemodialysis is known as HD. “Hemo” means blood. This dialysis is done in hospitals through a special hemodialysis machine. The blood of the patient is pumped through a filter that removes the excess water and chemicals and returns the cleaned blood back to the patient.
A soft PD catheter or tube is placed inside the child’s abdomen. Dialysis is done like a washout. A measured quantity of special dialysis fluid is run into the abdomen through the catheter and allowed to remain there for a few hours. During this dwell period, impurities from the blood flow into the dialysis fluid.
Acute kidney failure: In this condition, a child who was previously well with no kidney disease suddenly develops kidney
